Can a Button be Transparent to Touch?
On any touch end, the signal will trigger and all buttons will return to their initial state (with the 2nd animation playing / reverting). However, only the one where the last touch has started will cause a button to activate, assuming the touch has also ended on this exact button. First, you add an event "on any touch end" that casts the signal "TouchEnd". Also, we add 2 global variables, TouchEndX and TouchEndY. We set these as seperate actions to Touch.X and Touch.Y respectively. If you have parallax or scrolling layers, you need to use Touch.XAt(TouchIndex,"NameOfUILayer") and the same for Touch.Y.
FIrst of all, make sure you change the default button name to something that describes your overlay button. The default is to name it after the text, but that won't help you distinguish it from the button under it. This is important, becuase you may have trouble selecting your overlya by clicking it, especially if it is somewhat hidden.

The easiest solution is to add a small, transparent command button as a fallback control to take the focus. However, this eliminates long touches and the buttons feel very unresponsive. If you hold something for longer or move your finger just slightly, the tap does not register.
So your solution would work as well if we modified it a bit but it would need at least 2 events per button which is not ideal. I'm not a fan of the stock look with those ugly bubble looking icons but I liked the knock codes on much to switch launchers. I love them cause they are transparent and are large which makes them look super cool and they respond very quickly[…]. Now, because your buttons all got the same animation you can use a group for that. However, in my game buttons shrink (that's done with the tween behavior or an animation), so that is harder to track. It would work with an instance variable though. Another alternative is to add a second condition to the "On Touch End" event - "Touch is touching Button".
I don't get it why you need all that complex code. "On Tap" event is specifically designed for buttons and it checks that the finger has not moved away from the initial location. If it's any help as well I'm using Evie launcher. Home touch buttons were transparent before update.

Change the background color of the buttons. Tap Color and select from the available options. Recent Apps key shows recent apps and pages stacked together. QSlide apps can be moved, resized, or made transparent. In the Callout module, these settings appear on the Link tab when you set Type to Button in the Call to Action section. You can also change the texture color by code, including the alpha channel , but in this case, it was not necessary, since the texture has the alpha channel already set using Paint.Net. Now, the ‘secret’ for our custom button is using a custom texture.
When we talk about giving a control the "focus," we are talking about making it the active control. For example, labels and rectangles cannot take focus. Also, otherwise-editable controls like text boxes and combo boxes cannot take focus if their Enabled property is set to False. It's great for making composite buttons where you might want two bitmaps active at the same time, or two different text fonts on the same button. You just make the background transparent, kill the border, drag it on top of your other button, and set this property to pass-through. Toggle On or checkmark apps to hide the home touch buttons when using that app.
WIth a unique and easily identifiable name, you can use the pulldown list on the properties box to work with it. Also, you will want to use th z-order buttons so you can move it around, which will help you to get it to display exactly how you want it. I have a G4 UI on which there is an active touch bargraph.
